These spy shots were taken in Stuttgart and we get to see the upcoming 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS completely uncovered.

The front grille that the spied Mercedes-Benz CLS wears is much more upright than the current one. The window openings are surrounded by chrome trim and an additional band of chrome was added around the car's lower waist. The CLS features a fresh set of headlights with LED running lights, while the wrap-around taillights seem more stretched towards the center of the rear end. Toward the rear, buyers will find more stylized quarter panels as part of an overall departure from the bubble look of this year's car. The flattened nose and the overall shoulder line seems to make the CLS stand a little more upright than its predecessor.

Powertrain options for the new CLS will include Mercedes-Benz's 3.5 liter V6 engine with 306 PS (225 kW / 301 bhp) and a 435 PS (320 kW / 429 bhp) 4.7 liter twin-turbo V8 engine. On the diesel side will be a 204 PS (150 kW / 201 bhp) four-cylinder and a 3.0 liter V6 diesel with 252 PS (185 kW / 248 bhp).

A possibly CLS 63 AMG could follow powered by the brand's 5.5 liter, twin-turbo V8 delivering 544 PS (400 kW/536 bhp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.

The new CLS will likely make its debut this fall at the Paris motor show.

The production Mercedes-Benz CLS was introduced in 2004 at the New York International Auto Show and went into production in 2005.
