GM announced that the Chevrolet Camaro will go on sale in the UK and it will use the Goodwood Festival of Speed to launch the car as an official UK model for 2011, complete with full manufacturer warranty, during the first half of 2011.
Chevy Camaro is one of the most famous cars in the world. On sale in the United States since spring 2009, the retro-styled Camaro has already seen sales in excess of 200 000 as American retailers cleared their waiting lists.
Although several variants of the Camaro are available in the U.S., UK buyers will only have access to the range-topping SS trim. No other details were given, but Chevy did say that the english version will come with a 6.2-litre V8 powerplant, capable of 426 horsepower, which give the car the ability of accelerating from 0 to 60mph in under 5.0 seconds. The car reaches an electronically top speed of 155mph.
The car is equipped with sports suspension and bigger brakes to maintain all available power. The Limited Slip Differential is a standard.
No pricing information was given, but expect a hefty premium over the Camaro SS' U.S. starting MSRP of about $32,000. Final specification details and price in the near future.
Its debut will be celebrated this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with a Bumblebee themed car from the movie Transformers.
