Porsche builds 25,000th Panamera

Launched in September 2009, the Panamera was undoubtedly one of the most ridiculed cars of recent times when it was under development. Later, as the media began to test and review the all-new Porsche, tons of people changed their mind as the Panamera's amazing handling and jaw-dropping powertrains won over even some of its biggest doubters.

In less than ten months of production Porsche has produced up to 25,000 Panamera's. That's peanuts for a mass-market automaker, but an incredible feat for a sports car maker that in most years is thrilled to produce 100,000 models globally.

Panamera number 25,000 rolled out of Porsche's Leipzig factory in the State of Saxony. It's equipped with a 3.6l six-cylinder engine which develops 300 horsepower and comes in the color 'Ruby Red'. The special Panamera will be shipped to the States and handed to an American customer, where to date 5,000 copies of the sedan have been sold.

Porsche Panamera lineup includes Panamera S and Panamera 4S, as well as Panamera Turbo, with V6, V8 and V8 turbo engines. Porsche looks to keep up the Panamera momentum with a hybrid variant that is expected to bow in 2011. This system is similar to the one they use in Cayenne Hybrid S, which consists of a 3.0l supercharged V6 petrol engine which develops 333 hp, paired with an electric motor developing 46 hp. It delivers the same sort of power as a conventional V8, but with a better fuel economy than the V6 models.
