Toyota has decided to add two TRD accessory packs for the 2011 Toyota Tacoma based on a SEMA concept.
The T X and T X Pro packages draw their inspiration from the Tacoma T X concept showed at the 2009 SEMA show. The packages are available for Tacoma V6 Access Cab or V6 Double Cab models equipped with the factory Off-Road package.
The packages include performance-enhancing equipment and design changes. The T X and T X Pro packages supplement the Tacoma's optional Off-Road package, which adds an electronic locking rear differential; tuned stabilizer bars, uprated progressive front springs, and Bilstein shock absorbers; larger, off-road-ready tires, a thicker front anti-roll bar, fog lights, better seats, and an interior compass and temperature display.
To that, the $1699 T X package adds 16-inch black Toyota Racing Development wheels wearing BFGoodrich Rugged Trail tires, black side steps, a stainless-steel exhaust tip, and special decals. Exterior enhancements, such as side steps, stainless steel exhaust, and a graphics package round out the changes. The package will be available in dealerships in September.
The $1699 T X Pro package features the same 16-inch wheels and unique graphics, but it takes a different approach to tuning the Tacoma. Instead of focusing on cosmetic upgrades, it adds a TRD performance exhaust system for a more-aggressive engine note and 5 to 8 extra horsepower. The result - a slight increase in horsepower, but a much deeper exhaust note. The package costs $1699 and can be ordered in Toyota dealerships now.
Both packages represent savings over ordering the parts a la carte, and are covered by a three year/36,000-mile warranty.
