Disappointing news for the Smart company: it seems that the people don't like the small city car any more, which is just 61 inches high and 106 inches long. They sold 24.000 vehicles in 2008, 14.600 in 2009 and the percent of unsold cars is rising up at 60 this year. A research was made and many Smart owners, if they have the chance to buy a car, will not buy another Smart. For example, only 19.8 of the owners in San Francisco will buy the car again. The issues of the Smart car are very serious. The automatic transmission is terrible and the gearbox is rough. To repair this issues and to rejuvenate the brand , the Smart company hired Jil Lajdziak, the former general manager of Saturn. He has a lot of work to do!
