27th of August 2010 The prototype long-awaited BMW 1-Serieswas caught on film during tests. In the captured photos we can see that the Bavarian Engineers have increased the wheelbase and track for more space inside the car, especially since the current 1-Series was deficient at this chapter. The prototype`s dimensions indicates that the new car will borrow many elements from the platform of the X1 model. The new and improved BMW 1-Series will be equipped with 1.5 liter three-cylinder engine, 4-cylinder (diesel and gasoline), or with 2 and 3 liters engines with six cylinders. Also, a second generation of BMW's ActivE concept is likely to show up. Also, the EfficientDynamics system is expected to be part of the new 1-Series model – this will include BMW`s start-stop system. The car manufacturer will offer both manual and automatic transmissions. Bavarians do not stop here and promise that the 1-Series will have a coupe, a convertible, a mini roadster (Z2) and a small break - it`s dimensions will range somewhere between the hatchback and the X1 model. The next-generation 1-Series will have front and back LEDs and rear-wheel drive, like it`s predecessor. The next-generation 1-Series hatch, codenamed F20, is set to show up late next year. carscoop.blogspot.com
