With the 2010 edition of the Paris Auto Show, Honda officials have released photos and even more details of the new hybrid variant of the Jazz, which is named Fit in US and other markers.
The same IMA parallel hybrid system is shared by the smallest member of Honda`s gasoline-electric hybrid family, a system which can be found on the Insight and which makes a combination between a 1.3 liter engine with a 10 KW electric motor. Due to this system, the car is able to operate with engine only, the engine and motor or the electric motor operating only to low and medium speeds.
When it comes to the Jazz Hybrid model, the power control unit and the IMA battery pack are found stored under the boot floor, thus able to keep the normal boot area of 300 liters and at the same time allows the car`s “Magic Seats” to fold the same as the non-hybrid version does in order to ensure a boot space of 831 liters.
As to the fuel consumption, according to Honda producers, the figures of the new Honda Jazz Hybrid are of 4.4 l/100 km in the European cycle. These figures can be undoubtedly considered better than the European variants of the Civic Hybrid, which are of 4.6 l/100 km and than the figures of Honda CR-Z, being 5.0l/100 km.
Because of the fact that the Jazz is taller, has more flexibility and a focused shape, the CO2 emissions are 104 g/km, being a bit higher than the Insight, which has CO2 emissions of 101g/km.
Official announcements say that the Jazz Hybrid will go on sale in some European markets in the beginning part of 2011, but its price, homologated emissions levels and other specifications are to be announced soon.
