NHTSA investigates the steering issue from `04-`05 Mini Cooper

54 complaints made by owners of the 2004-2005 Mini Cooper, regarding an alleged loss of power Steering, a preliminary investigation into the matter is necessary. This investigation is made by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to sources from NHTSA, the owners complained about an unexpected loss of power steering while they were driving the car, thus requiring an increased force to steer the vehicle. Some reports suggest the fact that the loss of power steering assist may be related to a power steering pump failure. If the result of the investigation reveals a real problem with the power steering, up to 80,000 2004 and 2005 model year Mini Coopers may be affected.
