After several presentations at the International Auto Show hosted by the romantic French capital, Autonews Europe reveals to car enthusiasts future plans and strategies concerning the Fiat Group.
The summer of 2010 should have hosted the launching of the third generation Fiat Panda, but this has been postponed until September 2011. It would have been all right, but inside sources announce another delay, which pushes the car until January 2012. The world financial crisis seems to be the main reason for these delays, which also include the third generation Lancia Ypsilon Supermini, delayed with more than two years. Also, the launches of the Fiat Idea Lancia Musa small MPV and the Fiat Multipla have been postponed until the second half of 2012, although their debut should have been in December 2011.
Sergio Marchionne, from Fiat CEO considers the European market to be an unimproved one, so this is the reason why they decided to analyze more carefully the spending of the company. His predictions announce a weaker Q1 2010 than 2011, because the scrappage schemes are supposed to find an end in many European countries, while the rest of 2011 is foreseen as not being a wise one for Fiat Company.
Further analysis show that the company`s sales are following a decline as the sales in European went down by 13.9% to 723,356 vehicles, regarding the first eight months of 2011.
Contrary to these strategies, Stuart Peterson from Morgan Stanley Auto Analysis firm in London stated that the Fiat producers were taking an enormous risk with such delays, as they are likely to miss any European Union recovery.
Until now, no information has been released by any source, concerning the future of Alfa Romeo cars.
