TVR could make the 2012 Corvette-powered comeback

Nikolai Smolenski, the owner of TVR, bought the company from the late founder Peter Wheeler, who was selling it because of troubles, but didn’t do significant things with it and then declared bankruptcy in order to get rid of debts, followed by his action of buying the company out of bankrupcy.
No much news ever since, except for some hints about using an American V8 to power the firm’s next car.
But finally, there has come a decision concerning the V8, mainly the Corvette`s 638 hp LS9, but this raises some questions, such as: Is the car going to be a British one? The question is based on Smolenski`s comment, in which he states that he wishes to draw a line under the Wheeler era once and for all.
If someone asks whether a German-built, American-engined TVR will remain a TVR like the Griffith and the Chimera, Smolenski has the answer. He considers that TVR fans won’t think so, but he does not seem to care so much as he considers that it is more important to remain faithful to the brand values, no matter what.
The MD-1 will arrive in showrooms in 2012, with 250 units built annually.
