The latest model from Proton, which is Malaysia’s national carmaker and owner of Lotus, has just been released and if you were wondering whether this was an April Fools joke, well, it is the firm’s new mid-sized Inspira sedan. The current generation Mitsubishi Lancer inspired the production of the Inspira with its deliveries beginning in November and features a price of $25,654 as compared to the price of a base model Mazda3, which in Malaysia is $10,000 more. The executives could not be more excited by the new model, considering it a valuable product and most important, an affordable one, offering at the same time a sporty personality, provided by an excellent handling at a right price. When acquiring an Inspira, customers can choose between a 1.8-liter or 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines and offered an entire list of some so-called goodies, such as cruise control, adaptive CVT with paddle shifters, dusk-sending headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and a climate control air conditioning. Although Proton and Mitsubishi have kept a close relationship over the years, the Inspira represents the first concrete result of their collaboration. We will keep you on notice as soon as new details are released.
