New special editions for the Bentley Continental GT

Bentley seems to be very busy at the moment as the company is working on a multitude of developments for the near by future. The automaker plans is to make the most out of the recently introduced Continental GT model, which is scheduled to hit the market next year. The British car manufacturer want`s to release multiple special editions for the grand tourer. Bentley may come up with a strategy similar to the one used by the Germans from Porsche, which constantly releases special editions for the 911 series. This has proven to be a very successful pathway for the premium automotive producer, boosting both its market reputation and profit. The Bentley Continental GT gets a new facelift and a V12 engine that allows the driver to play with 575 hp and a peak torque of 516 lb-ft (700 Nm). The engineers from Bentley are also working together with Audi to try developing a 4.0 liter V8 engine that will be used to offer an entry level version of the vehicle. The unit the two companies will produce will offer a high level of efficiency by reducing with 40 percent the CO2 emissions, compared to the V12 unit. The carmakers will tweak the engine to deliver plenty of mid-range torque, in order for it to offer a traditional Bentley experience. In addition to that, the automaker is currently thinking the possibility of offering the future V8 engine with an Audi S-Tronic double clutch transmission. Company engineers are currently making efforts to integrate the new gearbox into the vehicle’s transmission tunnel, as this has a different shape than the one of the six speed ZF transmission currently used by the V12 unit. We`ll just have to wait to see what supercar will this two companies build.
