Making serious efforts to reveal the brand’s future direction, Lotus unveiled 5 concept models at the Paris International Show, placing in our minds the question whether which of these concepts we are likely to see hitting the highways. Now we have the answer: the Lotus Esprit, the only of the five models which is to be found under development by engineers. According to some inside sources, the Lotus Esprit is facing a complete development at the moment, aimed to represent the first of the next-generation Lotus to be offered, beginning with 2013. It will be described by lightness and simplicity, weighing 3,300 pounds, powered by 550 hp and a supercharged V8 engine. Lotus is planning to increase its market sales to 7,000 units sold per year, as opposed to previous 3,000 sold units. Their aim is pretty high, considering that it will also be more expensive, but a company like Lotus may afford such goals. This reminds us of the prices, which are announced to start from £80,000 to £120,000 range, up from about £40,000 on average.
