The VW Jetta prototype R is presented

Shortly after its landing on the European markets, the Germans are already planning to improve the new 2011 Jetta by releasing a Jetta R prototype during a press conference. The producers were proud to speak about the vehicle’s 3.6-liter V6 engine, a Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system and a six-speed DSG transmission. Looking at the pictures, it is quite easy to notice the fact that the car’s body has not been altered yet, except for the bigger wheels and the four-tail pipes at the back signal. It is not known whether it will make it into production, but we do know that the R division will tune the Jetta offering a body kit which will include more aggressive spoilers, interior improvements and lowered side sills. Racing seats together with a sportier steering wheel and pedals are expected to be provided, thus the Jetta R fitting snugly into the R line-up, along with the Golf and the Sciroco sports models. The way it reaches customers will influence its future, mainly if they want the car model on the market, Volkswagen producers will build it.In Europe, the Jetta has received a positive feedback over its American counterpart by using a higher quality and softer materials on the control panel and a suspension system which is more complex.
This difference is also influenced by the pricing, which, in Germany starts at €20,900 for a 105HP 1.2-liter TSI petrol and $15,995 for a 115Hp 2.0-liter petrol.
