The first renderings of the new Lada Niva are revealed

The Lada Niva represents an icon of Russian 4x4s and contrary to its success on the Russian wild backroads, the model, which has been produced since 1977 cannot hide its age anymore. When it had its debut, the vehicle appeared to be revolutionary with its permanent all-wheel-drive system, which was connected to tree differentials. Reaching a top speed of about 130 km/h, it was powered by a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine, developing 72 hp. Thus, it became extremely necessary to plan the manufacturing of a new cheap SUV scheduled to be built in a partnership with Renault, which is going to provide the platform from the Dacia Duster and bear the Niva name in order to cater to domestic and local markets. Enjoying the support of Vladimir Putin, the Niva will be available in two body versions, mainly a three door and a five door body type.
The Brazilian designer Irmao do Decius was the one who created the renderings for the new Niva, choosing to maintain the original design.
He kept the original front arrangement, featuring a pair of indicator lights which are to be seen placed above the running lights. Furthermore the car model is mainly characterized by a jacked up suspension coupled mudguards and big wheel arches.
The engine is protected in case of damages by a metallic guard.
