Renault cleared to use the Zoe Z.E. name

The French producers from Renault were thinking of naming the new electric vehicle Zoe Z.E., but the problems immediately appeared, as David Koubbi, a French lawyer representing a group of parents who had daughters named, of course, Zoe. The parents claimed, through their lawyer that their children had no connection whatsoever with the Renault family or company, stating that industrialists shouldn’t steal their names in order to sell their products.
As judges should have the last word, a French one agreed that the name "Zoe" is a common term, not particularly destined to humans.
While Koubbi and his clients are seriously considering appealing, Renault is quite happy with the result of the case.
