2011 BMW 1-Series Coupe Active-E was spied with details

An all-electric variant of the 1-Series BMW, the 2011 BMW 1-Series Coupe Active-E has recently been spy photographed. It is a well known fact that the Active E concept was presented at the Detroit Auto Show from last January and these spy shots somehow confirm that the car model is to be taken to production limited as a test run, featuring the MINI E. These photographs show us a prototype without a bonnet, while an up-close look at the tech in the former engine bay makes us wonder whether thatís a battery pack on top of an electric motor.
We do know for sure that the car was taken to a BMW test facility in southern Germany, while, thanks to the good spy photographers, we can have a look at the interior with some instructions spotted there, revealing an EDR-system (Event Data Recorder). Thus, we may think that the 1-Series Coupe Active-E is to feature a similar or identical powertrain to the MINI E, which is an electric variant of the MINI and receives its power from an electric motor with an output of 204 PS and 220 Nm of torque.
