The upcoming Geneva Show in March will host the launch of the new European D-segment model, one that is aimed to compete against vehicles, such as the Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat, but before that, these advance renderings show us what me might expect. The i40 has been developed and designed in Germany by the company’s European R&D center in Russelheim. Its design is closely associated with those of recent Hyundai design studies, the closest one being the Genus concept.
With a sedan version likely to follow it, the i40 was announced to go on sale after the Geneva debut. It will be powered by a 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder, delivering 170 hp and a 1.7-liter turbodiesel with outputs varying from 115 hp to 136 and still they have announced more powerful versions to come. While we expect more details to be released, you can admire the images in the gallery below and share in a comment whether the i40 is almost certainly what a Sonata wagon would look like.
