Toyota issues voluntary recall for 94,000MY Sienna minivans

94,000 units of the new 2011MY Sienna from Toyota, built before early November 2010, will undergo a voluntary safety recall as there are some potential problems concerning the brake light switch bracket. The Japanese engineers announced that the stop lamp switch bracket was in danger of being deformed by the driverís foot during parking brake operation because of the proximity with the parking brake. Depending on how deformed the bracket becomes, it is possible for the brake lights to remain, or, in case of a more significant deformation, the brakes could become partially engaged due to contact from the bracket, thus resulting in brake drag with associated brake noise, brake vibration and illumination of the brake warning light. No accidents or injuries took place as regarding this condition and no other Toyota or Lexus vehicles were involved in the recall. By the mid-January 2011, the owners of the affected Sienna models with the reparations taking place after late February as some parts are lacking. Of course, the remedy will be performed at no charge, as Toyota representatives stated.
