Lotus city car was confirmed for 2013

The 2010 Paris Motor Show was a good opportunity for Lotus to unveil new concept models, more exactly five and a sixth vehicle that got far less press – the Lotus City Car. Lotus head Dany Bahar stated to CAR Magazine that the City Car was planned to arrive in production form in October 2013 and rides on a platform developed for a range-extended hybrid powertrain with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that provides power to electric drive motors, connected to a single-speed transmission. It implies that the Lotus City Car will run solely on battery power around town, while the gasoline engine can ensure needed assistance if necessary.
Three versions of the city car are announced to follow, one for Asia, one available for the Europeans and a sportier model for the enthusiasts.
