A hotter version of the popular Fiesta is currently being developed by Ford and it is expected to wear the ST designation and its launch would be in the second half of this year.
Although the American car manufacturer has been retained in revealing details about its plans so far, we found out from the LíAutomobile Magazine that the market is about to receive a more punchy version of Fiesta by the end of 2011. Numerous enhancements both outside and inside will mainly describe the Fiesta and thus, get ready to admire a more aggressive front fascia with new bumper and special elements aimed to increase the sporty stance. The upcoming model will also receive dual-exhaust pipes, other exterior tweaks as well as a diffuser.
As regarding its engine, a 1.6-liter Turbo engine which raises an output of 180 hp and 270 Nm of torque will allow the car to reach a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than seven seconds. It remains unknown the fact whether Ford is planning to launch the car model in Europe exclusively or with the possibility of extending its launch in the United States as well.
According to some sources, Fordís efforts go towards beating strong market competitors such as Volkswagen Polo GTI, SEAT Ibiza Cupra and Skoda Fabia RS.
