How about a car that can read your mind? Well, that seems a little too much isn't it? But would you say the same thing if that car would be a Ferrari?
It seems that the Italian manufacturer has big plans for its future models. In fact, recently Ferrari has patented a new technology regarding the reading of the driver's biometric data.
Ferrari thinks that the drivers are often overestimating their own skills and in fact that can lead to severe accidents, especially in a powerful car like the Ferrari is. That's why the manufacturer is planning on installing a wide array of sensors in the driver's seat, the steering wheel, the dashboard and even in the cabin ceiling that will monitor the driver's respiration, perspiration, heart rate, cranial activity and blood pressure, all of these sensors giving the car a biometric scan of the driver's physical state.
Moreover, once the car has detected that the driver has a problem it will able to reduce its performances and dynamics according to the driver's physical state and even alert him if the issue is quite serious.
Some people would say that Ferrari has gone a step too far with this electronic nanny project, but on the other hand, there are two things we have to consider here.
The first one is that driving a powerful car without being able to handle it well is a very dangerous and life endangering hobby and the second is that this kind of biometric scanning can be very useful for those people that have serious health issues. For example, if the car can detect specific heart problems, the driver can get to a hospital before a heart attack occurs.
