GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept - that`s a big truck

It seems that the 2011 Detroit Auto Show has marked the rebirth of the American car industry. And for all it takes, GMC is back with a big and powerful 100% American concept car. Yes, we’re talking about the new Sierra HD truck.

Derived from the Ford F 150 SVT Raptor, the new Sierra HD has a mighty 397 HP V8 Duramax turbo diesel engine coupled to an Allison manual gear transmission and a specific purpose in life: according to Lisa Hutchinson, the GMC marketing director, the Sierra "is aimed at towing and hauling in harsh off-road environments". And in fact, the Sierra concept is so powerful that it can tow up to six (yes six that's not a misprint) tons without breaking a sweat.
The concept truck features also some 35 inch tall mud terrain tires mounted on a set of 20 inch massive aluminum rims and a wheels-at-the-corners construction that gives this truck a lot of its stability and grip.
The Sierra HD concept has also high intensity LED head and tail lamps, signal and central stop lights.
At the interior we can find a new navigation radio that in the future will be fitted on all the Sierra trucks and an integrated navigation system with an 80 GB Hard drive. Other than that, the interior is quite spartan, functionality being the key word here.
Now don’t get your hopes up because you’ll never see this Sierra HD concept on the streets and according to Hutchinson this is only a concept truck ment for testing new ideas and technologies.
