Mugen Motorsport, the engine tuner and parts manufacturer founded in 1973 by Hirotoshi Honda, the son of Honda Motor Company founder Soichiro Honda, came these days with a Special anniversary edition of the well known Ariel Atom.
So what's new about this slick little car? Well for starters, Mugen gave it a red chassis - white body color combination and a new set of rims in accordance with the rest of the car.
Still, the guys at Mugen are much better known for their smart engine tweaks, something that they've tried also on the Ariel Atom. So now, after some new high-compression pistons, new high-lift cams and a new set of valve springs, the K20Z Type R engine has earned some extra horsepower and now features a lofty 270 bhp. And what to do with all that power in such an easy car? Well yes, you've guessed it right: put the pedal to the metal. Still this is not a toy and whiles the Ariel Atom gets from 0 to 100 in less than 3 seconds, its top speed reaches 300 km/h.
But how do you slow down from such a speed? Well, with some Alcon special four piston calipers, of course. And additionally the Ariel Atom will be fitted with fully adjustable coilover suspensions, the same as the ones found on the Atom V8 version.
Still all these amazing features are not gonna come cheap. What we know is that there are going to be produced only a few of these beasts, and as usual, a limited edition means more money.
Oh, and by the way, do you know what Mugen stands for in Japanese? No limits!
