Maybach is on the bubble in 2012

Dieter Zetsche, Daimler CEO, announced at the 2011 Detroit Motor that a decision was going to be made by the end of the year whether its super-luxury Maybach division would be shuttered or not. The economic downturn was one of the major factors influencing the business wither, meant to become a strong competitor against Bentley and Rolls-Royce. Zetsche also reported that the success or failure of Maybach hardly showed up on their results. According to a Financial Times report, Daimler had some talks with Aston Martin about the possibility of taking over the development of future Maybachs. In Zetsche's opinion, such partnerships were also taken into consideration to see if there was a viable business model for the business.
Jay-Z and Russell Simmons were among hip-hop moguls to own a Maybach, which features a starting price of $366,000. Jay Leno and Nick Faldo have been the proud owners of such a beautiful model. The present Maybach line integrates the Maybach 57 and 57S, Maybach 62 and 62S, as well as the Landaulet. Last year, only 63 units were sold in the U.S.
In 1919, Maybach was hitting the boulevards, but discontinued when World War Two broke out, then Daimler-Benz bought what was left in 1960, while the current model made its debut at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show.
