The next Dodge Caliber turns sedan style

After being bought by Fiat, Chrysler has grown back from its own ashes, but this time, the American corporation will undertake a huge renovation on all of its models in order to get in line with the Italian's car manufacturer demands.
It seems that the first "victim" of this process will be the 2012 Dodge Caliber that will turn from a five-door hatch to a full size sedan. Actually this transformation is based on the total sales estimations that have shown a bigger interest in sedans along the American buyers while the Europeans tend to go more with the hatchback body styled cars.
Even so, the Caliber will have a new Fiat designed "Compact wide" technical platform that will be used on both sides of the ocean and also in China where Fiat intends to produce the next 2012 Caliber.
This so called "Compact Wide" platform, also allows Fiat to produce both its compact European like models and also to wide body American like models.

So, after buying a big chunk of the American car manufacturing industry, Fiat expects to sell more than 300.000 cars a year both in Europe and America. There for, it seems that for 2012 we have to expect new models and quite a few surprises from the Fiat/Chrysler partnership.
