While Porsche has always been associated with sports and luxury, in the latest years the German car manufacturer has diversified its car offer including among other projects, an SUV. Consequently, the first generation of Porsche's Cayenne was released in 2002 having the same platform as the Touareg and the Q7 but customized as a true thoroughbred Porsche.
The second Cayenne generation was seen for the first time at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show and compared to the old one, the new Cayenne is much more refined and with a slightly different front and back design. The Germanís SUV new features include LED daytime running lights, a larger grille that makes way for bigger air intakes and also circular distinctive fog lights. Also the rear side benefits from the new LED clusters taillights and also features a new exhaust pipe system that will improve the overall performance.
The new Cayenne is 44 mm longer than its predecessor and according to Porsche this increase has improved the car's stability at higher speeds.
The interior has also been a bit redesigned and because of those 44 mm earned by this generation, the interior is now more spacious. Also the interior is full of top quality materials and the seats are all dressed up in leather.
Regarding more technical issues, the Cayenne takes officially about 14.5 l/100 Km but when drive tested it did a 17 l/100 Km fuel consumption.
Last but not least, we should say a few words about the V8 engine that even if supplies the car with 15 more horse power; it takes 23% less fuel than its predecessor. Also this powerful engine works together with an 8 speed automatic gear box used also on the Volkswagen Touareg.
Obviously these are only some of the car's key features, but you can see from here that the new Cayenne is a true Porsche.
