Several spy photos which reveal the upcoming 2012 Porsche Boxster were taken in northern Sweden next to the next-generation Porsche 911. Known internally at Porsche as the 981, the next-generation Boxster proved to be slowly on the test run, showing its new LED taillights and a triangular design similar to the one featured by the next 911. It is likely for the next Boxster to receive its power from a new four-cylinder engine which is currently being under development by Porsche. Wolfgang Durheimer, Porsche’s outgoing head of research and development confirmed the development of the 2.5-liter powerplant which will be probably featured by the 2012 Boxster and Cayman models. In a turbocharged configuration, the output raised by the 2.5-liter powerplant could reach 360 bhp (268 kW / 365 PS).
