2012 BMW 1-Series was spied in red

The next-generation 2012 BMW 1-Series was spy photographed in northern Europe while it was undergoing winter testing. One of the three prototypes which were spied, appears to be red, thus enabling us to distinguish its shape despite the heavy camouflage. As compared to the current model, this 1-Series seems bulkier and by that fairly light camouflage, we understand that the engineers were trying to hide the new design's broader shoulders.
The rear end is bigger and a slightly raised chassis appears to be supporting the car, while we also notice that the car is a little longer, featuring a slimmer C-pillar, thus making the cabin less claustrophobic and improving rear visibility. To us there is no surprise that the next 1-Series is growing because BMWs current plans concern the development of several compact entry-level models/bodystyles in order to fit the 1-Series in the lineup.
Later this year, we will be witnessing the debut of the next-generation 2012 BMW 1-Series.
