The Camaro is one of the most well known American muscle cars and one of the oldest Chevrolet brands. Actually the first Camaro was unveiled on June 28 1966 and three years later, Chevrolet released the first Camaro pace car. Now, after 41 years, Chevrolet has presented the new Camaro Convertible pace car for the Indianapolis 500.
Designed to resemble the 1969 version of the Indianapolis 500 pace car, the new Camaro, branded with the well known 2SS logo, features a 400 hp, 6.2 liter V8 engine and a six speed automatic gear box. The car has also Brembo brakes, 20 inch aluminum rims with high performance race tires and HID headlights.
The overall color of the pace car convertible is ôSummit White" with two orange racing stripes that go for the whole length of the car.
For the inside, Chevrolet has opted for a color matching orange leather seats and embossed headrests bearing the Indy 500 logo. Also the convertible features a lot of interior chromed ornaments and a special design of the central console.
Because this is a special edition of the Camaro, there are going to be only 50 cars assembled and the first one will be auctioned off at the Barret Jackson Collector Car Auction and the earnings will be donated to the David Foster Foundation.
