The new MiTo with TCT gearbox

The Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo has just announced that they have released their new TCT automatic dry clutch transmission and the first car that will be fitted with this new technology will be the next generation of Alfa MiTo. Developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies, the TCT consists of two transmissions that are working in parallel, which allows the selection and egament of a gear while the previous is still connected, offering continuos torque and traction.
While the Alfa MiTo isn't a big spender in terms of fuel, the Italian manufacturer stated that the new generation of MiTo is even more economical than the previous because of its newly implemented technologies like the start/stop engine button and the TCT gearbox.
According to Alfa Romeo officials, the MiTo will offer a 38.7 miles to the gallon fuel consumption in the city and and it will release only 128 g/km of CO2.
Moreover, the MiTo is reported to go from not to 60 in just under 8.2 seconds and this means that the MiTo TCT has improved all its characteristics (fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and acceleration).
On the other hand, the new MiTo can also feature a regular manual gear box that will make the previously mentioned values to grow by 0.5 mpg, 1g/kg and 0.2 seconds.
In the UK, the starting price for the new MiTo will be 16,745 GBP and the car will be available in the Lusso and Veloce trim levels.
