The Mazda MX 5 goes for the million

Looking back on this very successful's car history, we should know that the first MX 5 (aka Miata) has left Mazda's Hiroshima production facility in late 1989. Since then, three generations of MX 5 have changed and now, after more than 20 years, Mazda can praise itself for all the 900.000 Miatas currently on the roads. It's a great figure and Mazda doesn't want to stop here.
The first MX 5 generation (the NA) had a 1.6 liter inline 4 cylinders engine but after 1993, Mazda also offered a more powerful 1.8 liter power plant that really gave a new life to this small roadster. The second generation (the NB) was unveiled in 1998 having only a small increase in engine power and a redesigned glass rear window. Finally, the third generation of the Miata (the NC) was introduced in 2005 and it had a 2.0 l propulsor. As for the looks, since 1989, the convertible has undergone two massive redesigns and a lot of minor updates, but the basic look has remained quite similar to the original model.
Now, after all this time, Mazda attributes the MX 5's success to the popular concept of cheap sports car, as the Miata is still one of the less expensive roadsters on the market. Moreover the style, performance and quality of this model have become legendary all over the world and especially in the USA where 45% of all the MX 5 have been sold.
