While the 2012 Tiguan is only a facelift of the previous model, meant to bring this SUV into the current VW design trend, the launch of this car was expected for some time now.
And if only a few days ago, the new Tiguan was featured by accident (or not) on to VW's web site. Today, the German car manufacturer has decided to give an official photo selection regarding the looks and feels of the 2012 Tiguan facelift model. Moreover, the advanced sales orders have opened already and the first customers will receive their cars in the shortest time possible.
Yes, that's a bin unusual for group VW, especially in Europe, but you have to consider that the Tiguan is one of the best sold SUV on the Old Continent and that Volkswagen has already stated that all the stocks for the old version of this midlle sized SUV have been sold out.
Actually last year, in Germany only, the Tiguan made about 21% of the overall SUV sales and 12 % across the whole Europe. Indeed, the Tiguan is a very popular SUV, and not only in Europe as VW is exporting this car to Russia, USA, Brazil and Australia also. And when it comes to a total count, in only four years since Volkswagen has begun selling the Tiguan, the German car manufacturer has produced more than 570,000 units, and the count is growing.
For its base version, the 2012 facelift will come with a starting price of only 24,175 euros in Germany, for the Trend&Fun version with a 1.4 TSI engine. Still, for further prices and technical details we'll have to wait until the 1st of March, when the new Tiguan will be featured at the Geneva Motor Show.
