The refreshed 308 range from Peugeot is going to be exposed at next month's Geneva Motor Show and will go on sale across Europe shortly after this premiere, announcing some styling changes, revised powertrains together with the introduction of a fuel efficient micro-hybrid e-DHi variant, providing lower CO2 emissions, under 100 g/km. A new face subtly integrates the latest codes of the Peugeot brand and it was given to all three body styles of the 308, including the SW station wagon, the CC coupe-convertible and the hatchback. The result is a re-sculptured front bumper, a new hood design, reshaped LED headlamps and running lights as well as a more compact sized front grille. All the exterior makeover is completed by some changes to the trims, new brand logos and new alloy wheel designs, while the interior is described by premium quality materials and colors, for the dashboard trim and seats. The overall weight was reduced by an average of 25 kg or 55 pounds across the range and engineers also worked on optimizing all available diesel an petrol engine options, together with the fitment of 16-inch wheels on ultra low rolling resistance tires, available only for certain models. But Peugeot's plans do not stop here and the producers do not seem to waste their time, as a new micro-hybrid e-HDi variant will be released, beginning with the summer of 2011. This variant recovers energy during braking due to a smart combination between a stop-start system and a smart alternator. The 1.6-liter HDi FAP 112HP Euro 5 diesel engine will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or an electronically controlled six-speed manual gearbox. This micro-hybrid model boasts CO2 emissions of 98 g/km. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
