The new 508 SW Allroad was spied while it was undergoing some winter testing in northern Europe and it appears to be pretty obvious that Peugeot is planning to take on Audi's "allroad" tradition. This would be the third variant added to the 508 range, apart from the 5-door SW and the 4-door sedan and was designed to be a strong competitor against the Audi A4 and A6 models. A possibility would be this new 508 SW Allroad sharing technology with the heavily camouflaged and bulky DS5, that was also spy photographed just a few weeks ago. The heftier power plants in the Peugeot range are likely to provide power for the 508 SW Allroad and they will comprise the 2.0-liter HDi diesel with 163 PS and the 3.0-liter V6 HDi with 240 PS. The petrol variant is expected to integrate the 1.6-liter THP with 200 PS. Peugeot spokespersons did not mention whether the allroader was going to be released with Peugeot's Hybrid4 technology, which couples a 37 PS electric motor on the rear axle for all-wheel drive capability and a 163 PS 2.0-liter HDi unit.
