Audi A3 sedan concept with 408HP officially previews next generation model

After rumoring for a while the idea of Audi trying the adding of a four-door sedan body style to its A3 range, the German carmaker finally made an official statement in which the rumors were confirmed and the first official sketches of the A3 concept were released way before its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The auto salon has now reached its 81st edition.
Scheduled for a rollout in 2012 and including the successors to today's three-door hatchback, five-door Sportback as well as the two-door convertible models, the preview of the styling direction of the next A3 and that of the saloon variant were the main purpose of the Audi executives. An official report from Audi suggests that a glimpse of the future expansion of the A3 family is provided by the four-seater notchback sedan.
The new A3 is measuring 4.44 metres in length, 1.84 metres of width, only 1.39 metres of height and it is slightly smaller than the new Volkswagen Jetta, which features 4.64 m long. Taut body lines, angular headlights with LED technology together with a single-frame grille with tapered upper corners are features of Audi's latest design language that embodies the sedan study. Producing a maximum output of 408HP, an upgraded version of the 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbocharged engine, which could also be found under the bonnet of the current TT RS and RS3 models, is going to be integrated in the show car. A seven-speed S tronic transmission and permanent wheel drive deliver power to all wheels. More details will be released at the upcoming auto show, but, until then, feel free to share opinions in the comments section below.
