After only four years in production, Nissan enjoys the taste of victory with its Qashqai crossover model passing the 1,000,000 sales mark. The vehicle was engineered and designed in Britain and it is familiar to the customers from Japan, Australia and other markets as the Dualis. Back in 2008, the introduction of the seven-seater, long-wheelbase version called the Qashqai+2 was expanding the Nissan crossover range, which was presented in a year before, in 2007. Later, in March 2010, an update with powertrain refinements and a refreshed design completed the entire series. At the present moment, several car plants produce the Nissan Qashqai, the Kyushu factory in Japan, in Dongfeng Nissan's Huadu Plant and Zhengzhou Nissan's No.2 plant in China and the last, but not the least, Nissan's Sunderland factory in the UK, which is the biggest manufacturer of the Qashqai, selling more than 800,000 of the 1,000,000 units made there. Regarding the sales, Europe is the first, featuring a total of 759,370 units sold, with 111,088 belonging to UK and they are followed by Italy which registers 103,647 cars. According to Nissan's Global Chief Marketing Manager for Qashqai, Guillaume Masurel, Qashqai came obviously as a pioneer in terms of "Compact Crossovers", managing to clear the way for the others to follow, as its roomy interior, robust design, combined with higher driving position, reduced fuel consumption together with driving dynamics set its positive feedback from customers all over the world.
