Audi has a lot of plans about their future product lineup in the U.S.
The company wants to offer diesel engines in the A6, A8 and Q5. This is a supplement to the TDI engines that are now available in the A3 and Q7. A4 will have to wait to get a diesel until 2014-2015 when the redesigned model is launched.
At the beginning of 2013, Audi will sell an e-Tron, and rumors say it could be the R8 e-Tron, which would be just on time for the BMW i8 and Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell confrontation.
The R8 e-Tron prototype has a 42.4 kW lithium-ion battery which sends power to four electric motors that produce a combined 308 hp (230 kW / 312 PS) and 4,500 Nm (3,319 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the coupe to speed from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, reach a maximum speed of 200 km/h and travel 248 km on a single charge.
