Renault rolls out 1000th Clio Gordini RS

The Clio Gordini RS has been built since May 2010 and was sold in 18 countries, most of them being located in Europe and, this month, the Renault Alpine plant in Dieppe proudly produced the 1,000th Clio Gordini RS model. This achievement comes less than a year after the car model was introduced, as at the end of 2009 the Gordini name was revived by presenting the Twingo Gordini RS. The Wind Gordini is the newest member of the Gordini family and it had its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show, from March.
The Gordini name suggests better equipped and styled-up models, with no technical changes at all, although in the past, its name was linked with performance and motor sports versions of Renault's road cars. While half of Renault's twingo RS and Clio RS models which were sold in Europe wear the renowned white stripes and the Gordini nameplate, the Gordini version features only exterior and interior styling tweaks, as compared to the base Renaultsports Clio. With a market share of 25 percent in Europe's biggest five markets in 2010, the Twingo RS boasts to be the second best sold car of the A sport segment. Concerning the B segment, the Clio RS owns 16 percent of it.
