The 2012 M5 Concept from BMW was scheduled to have its world debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, which will take place later this month. But, until then, several pictures of it leaked onto the Internet, a fact which will certainly not make the BMW officials very happy. The leaked pictures show some styling changes, which are rather conservative, including side air vents, bespoke front and rear bumpers as well as four tail pipes and the five-spoke M alloy wheels. The new M5 appears to be 99 percent production ready as most BMW concepts of the sort, but one should not expect too many differences when the Frankfurt Motor Show hosts the premiere in production guise this year, in September. A modified version of the same twin-turbocharged V8 engine found on the X5 M and X6 M powers the new M5, which is based on the latest F10 5-Series. Furthermore, as compared to the 507HP 5.0-liter V10 lump, the V8 was considered by engineers to be lighter, greener and even more powerful. Although BMW officials have not presented any official numbers yet, there are voices that suggest an output close to 600HP.
