A set of sketches has recently been released by Audi and they show the brand's enthusiasts the next-generation A3, which is most likely to hit the showrooms at the end of 2012. Looking at these photos, one could easily notice the versions of the sedan and three-door hatchback, together with an impressive view of the interior. We are not surprised by the A3 sedan sketch, for it features a lot of similarities in the design with the A3 concept, which had its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The three-door hatchback appears to be much more interesting, as Audi offers its customers, for the very first time, a peak design of its future compact model.
Sporting a narrow glasshouse, the three-door version is dynamic and sharp, while it also incorporates massive wheel arches together with an interesting crease in the lower part of the door. Featuring less buttons and switches as well as no traditional center console, the interior seems to be quite similar to the one previewed on the A3 sedan Concept. A prominent central tunnel has replaced the traditional center console, but high-tech features as optional extras are to be offered by the Audi A3, such as the MMI infotainment system, integrating a touchscreen that comes out from the upper part of the dashboard. Markets like the U.S. and China are expected to receive the sedan and the new Audi A3 is scheduled to be presented as a three door hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show. Its sedan and five-door versions are likely to arrive after. Concerning the engine lineup, it is likely to incorporate a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, natural gas versions, completed by a full electric model.
