2012 Chevrolet Camaro was officially unveiled

Aiming to celebrate the iconic pony car's 45th anniversary, ahost of improvements were added to the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro model year. While the fuel consumption remains at 30 mpg on the highway, the 3.6-liter V6 engine received an increase of 11HP over the initial 323HP at 6,800 rpm. Optimized-flow fuel injectors, new fuel pump, larger intake valves and a new cylinder head design were added the engine, which, after benefiting from a rough rework, it became 20.5 pounds lighter. Handling was improved with a new FE4 sport suspension, available for the 2012 Camaro SS coupes. Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer stated that they applied lessons from extensive track testing in order to better refine the suspension geometry for flatter cornering, as well as a more neutral balance during hard turns and minimized understeer at the limit. 20-inch aluminum wheels, new solid front (23 mm)and rear stabilizer bars (24 mm) and retuned front and rear dampers are to be found included in the new suspension package. Refined style defines the interior with a power lift feature for the passenger seat, a new steering wheel design and the revamped instrument panel incorporating different graphics and trim. Consisting of a rearview camera system, the Rear Vision Package represents a new feature added to the 2012 model year.
The exterior of the 2012 Camaro receives a new rear spoiler and the RS appearance taillamps as standard. A 45th Anniversary Special Edition Camaro will also be launched by Chevrolet on April 15 in Arizona at the Camaro 5 Fest II. Two trim levels are going to be available for the anniversary package, for both coupe and convertible models. A unique rally stripe in red and silver painted over the Carbon Flash Metallic paint, together with all the 2012 upgrades feature the special edition Camaros. Exterior details of the model include new 20-inch dark silver wheels, RS-style taillamp lenses, fog lamp and taillamp bezels finished in dark silver, standard rear spoiler, HID headlamps, body-color roof molding and 45th Anniversary badges on the front fenders. The interior has the 45th Anniversary logo on the seats, sill plates and steering wheel. Furthermore, the interior pleases the driver and the passengers with a Jet Black interior with leather upholstery, a white instrument panel and door trim inserts, shift knob, console lid, door armrests, white and blue stitching on the seats.
