Yesterday at the New York International Auto Show, Scion presented the new FR-S Sports Coupe Concept. The model is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive car and with this and many other features, the carmaker is confident the car will bring performance to actuality.
The model has a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated boxer engine that has a D4-S injection system. This system will increase the horsepower and the torque output by using the direct and port injection.
The model has different transmission options like it could have a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic one. Each of them has its qualities. The manual gearbox has fast and very precise shifts with a short throw and the automatic one gives steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. So it's just a matter of time until we really know exactly what will it be.
Toyota 2000GT was the source of inspiration for the Scion FR-S and also Corolla's AE86 generation.
We still don't know if the Scion will send the model to production, but for sure at some point they will.
