Almost 200,000 Pathfinder and Infiniti QX4 models are being recalled by Nissan

A problem with the steering column of the Infiniti QX4 and Nissan Pathfinder models was found. The automaker announced that owners in a lot of US states will have to take their cars in for a check-up.
Apparently the reason is salt. Yes, salt from the road. In the last few winters because of the snow a lot of salt was used and this is what affected the steering column of the vehicles. So the enemies were water, snow and salt.
If you think is not very severe, well think again. If the steering efforts increase, in the worst case scenario, the car can become a real danger for the driver and passengers as it becomes uncontrollable if the steering column brakes.
The Pathfinder models affected by the recall announced by Nissan are the ones built between 1996 and 2004 and the QX4 models are the ones manufactured between 1997 and 2003. Some of the states involved in the recall are Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Delaware, Connecticut, Iowa, Indiana, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, West Virginia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts and Michigan. The rest of the states are OK and for those ones May will be the check-up month.
