Jeep is betting on three new SUVs to boost European sales

Sergio Marchionne, the Chrysler CEO, plans to double the brand's global sales from 420,000 units last year to 800,000 units in 2014, with Europe playing an important key role as it is an incredibly important market for Jeep. Thus, Jeep representatives aim to increase the sales in Europe from 25,000 units this year to 125,000 units by 2014. Jeep CEO Mike Manley stated to Autonews Europe that they had been there for 30 years and half of their international sales historically had been in Europe, adding that Jeep would roll out new products so that they could fulfill the ambitious plan. The new products will include the company's first small SUV, while the European network will be expanded from 430 to 650 dealers by 2014. The sales in countries which have emission-based car taxes will be increased by the launch of three fuel-efficient SUVs. Planned to be built in Toluca, Mexico, the small SUV represents a Fiat-based vehicle code-named B-SUV and it is going to be sold in Latin America, North America and Europe. The second new model will begin production in the U.S. by early 2013 and appears to be a replacement for the Cherokee SUV, while its launch in Europe is expected to happen by spring 2013. It received the codename D-SUV and it will be available to its buyers with AWD as standard while powertrain options are to include a MultiAir version of Fiat's 2.0-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine which delivers 170HP. Codenamed C-SUV, the third new model is aimed to replace the Compass/Patriot models, being a compact SUV that will be built at Fiat's Mirafiori plant in Italy and is planned to make its debut in Europe by mid-2013. The C-SUV will be offered with AWD and FWD, sharing components with the Alfa Romeo C-SUV and will be sold globally.
