The most fuel efficient driver was revealed by Volvo

Not long ago at the Asia Fuelwatch competition, Gosula Venkata Suresh, a truck driver from India won and this is evidence that the driver is really the one that decides how much fuel to consume.
The competition was between five national champions from India and Indonesia. The truck used was a Volvo FMX 6x4 with 450 horsepower that had a total weight of 24 tons and the challenge was to use as little fuel as possible to win.
Apparently the secret lays in the technology used by Volvo, but the driver does a lot of work as well, having to use the dynamic of the truck in his advantage. This is what the Environmental Director at Volvo Trucks, Lars Martensson declared and also he is proud of the success of the 2010 edition and its results.
The end of this year's competition actually revealed a 20% difference in fuel consumption between the Indian driver and the one that came in last. Gosula Venkata Suresh is collaborating with Volvo for ten years now and this victory brought him the title of Asia's first off-road Fuelwatch champion.
The driver declared that he is very proud of his victory and that he is looking forward to the future and how he will discover other ways of controlling the fuel consumption of the truck he will be driving.
