The Volt will be in dealerships for a six month demo period

Chevrolet is doing its best to please the customers and so the Volt units prepared for demonstrations are already at the dealerships.
Statistics indicate that nine of ten customers who traded in a car as part of their purchase are actually new to the Chevrolet brand. The company decided to expose the Volt instead of selling it directly to customers and this way the Chevrolet products along with the Volt will be easier to recognize.
The idea is to create the perfect conditions for the owners of other important brands to at least show up to a Chevrolet dealership and then for sure after the visit they will think about purchasing a Volt for themselves.
By the end of 2011 in all 50 states the Volt will make an entrance and also over 2,500 dealers will receive a Volt demo.
The advice coming from Chevrolet marketing director, Cristi Landy is to try to drive a Volt, this being the only way to find out how it feels like exactly. Chevrolet is preparing a lot of other surprises like the Cruze, Malibu and Equinox the environment friendly cars.
The thing is that the dealers will be able to sell all Volt units after a six month demo period.
