Rumors say Audi will soon present the Q5 cabrio

Rumors seem to say that Audi has difficulties staying aside. Apparently the carmaker has a lot of job now building a cabriolet version of the Q5. The information just started wandering around so there is nothing very clear. But what is very obvious is that the new model is based on the Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro concept. This model had its debut four year ago, in 2007, at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
This new car will have a lot of changes. But the two-door configuration will be kept and also will have a soft canvas roof. The driver will have the possibility to open the roof with an electric motor.
Even the company stuff admits that the Q5 cabrio is more an accessory than a practical car. The model will have a luxurious interior. It will also feature different bespoke styles cues and there will be used only quality materials.
Because of these features, for sure, the price of the car will increase in a ridiculous way.
The materials used to create the system that removes the roof are quite heavy and that is why the original weight of the car increased a lot. Once it became heavier, it's more than obvious that the Q5 will have a very strong engine. We don't know what will be choice of the carmaker. Will they choose TFSI petrol or a TDY diesel, but it's very possible to have both.
The price is expected to be around EUR 45,000, but we'll know more after its debut, before 2013.
