Bonhams announced that a special car like one BMW will be auctioned. It's special because this car is the only BMW that was specially prepared and painted for a private client. The vehicle is a 1979 BMW M1 Pro Car and the money received from the sale will be given to the Guggenheim Museum. The project that had as "repercussion" this model was started by Herve Poulain, a French racecar driver in 1975. He was not the only one. Roy Lichtenstein, Andi Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg and David Hockney are other illuminated minds. The vehicle was built by BMW Motorsport GmbH to BMW Pro Car Group 4 specifications and Stella was in charge with the paint and used this opportunity to bring a tribute to a friend of his, a Formula 1 Grand Prix-winning driver Ronnie Peterson. The Quail Lodge sale will take place in Carmel, California on August 18 and 19 of this year. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
