The new 2011 V12 Zagato has recently been unveiled by Aston Martin, aiming to bring a tribute to the iconic DB4GT Zagato, which is proud to celebrate its 50th anniversary. It represents a V12 Vantage supercar that underwent a rebodying by the famous Italian coachbuilder. Aston Martin informed its enthusiasts that it two versions of the supermodel were going to be available. One of them is embodied by a neck-bracking version for the track and it is to be seen at the 24-hour Nurburgring race on June 25th, this year. The other version is represented by a road car that incorporates racing exhausts and a big diffuser. The Zagato design flourishes with the light contours together with the subtle double bubble roof. The car model was largely based on the V12 Vantage coupe, but Zagato has draped it in a handcrafted aluminum body. Using an English wheel as well as traditional body bucks, the engineers created all the panels, although this is no aftermarket carbon fiber body kit job. Dr. Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin stated that the Zagato design language was a perfect complement to their engineering and design expertise, while the partnership had produced some of the world's most iconic cars. He added that the new venture with Zagato was more collaborative than it would have been in the past due to Aston Martin having its own in-house design ability. He concluded that their task was to create a concept that would be a natural successor to those iconic cars that had gone before, matching the technology of the age with the traditional skills vital to deliver such a bespoke and exclusive sports car would lead to a strictly limited run of road going V12 Zagatos. It is expected that the collaboration Aston-Zagato will continue in the future with other interesting projects. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
